July 14th is Bastille Day, France’s national hol July 14th is Bastille Day, France’s national holiday and the anniversary of a prison break that changed everything.

Back in 1789, an angry crowd stormed the Bastille, a nearly empty prison that had come to symbolize royal oppression. That moment sparked the fall of the ancien rÊgime and ignited the French Revolution.

Today? It’s a full-on celebration of liberté, égalité, fraternité, complete with military parades on the Champs-Élysées, fireworks by the Eiffel Tower, and crowds singing La Marseillaise in the streets of Paris.

Want to test your Bastille Day knowledge and learn a few fun facts along the way? We’ve got a quiz for that. 😉 Link in bio!

July 8th is Family Day in Ukraine, a holiday that July 8th is Family Day in Ukraine, a holiday that doesn’t usually make international headlines, but definitely deserves a moment of recognition.

It’s a day when Ukrainians take time to be with loved ones—sharing a homemade meal, heading out for a picnic, or just enjoying nature together. It’s also a reminder of how deeply Ukrainian culture values family ties. Many generations often live under one roof, not just out of practicality, but because connection and care run deep.

The holiday was officially introduced in 2011, but the spirit behind it? That’s been part of Ukrainian life for generations.

Curious about the history, traditions, and food (spoiler: shashlik and stuffed cabbage rolls)? The link in bio has all the details.

As we head into the holiday weekend in the US, we As we head into the holiday weekend in the US, we thought we'd share this fun fact from the @hotdogcouncil. But how Americans eat those 150 million hot dogs depends a lot on where they’re from. Because, as always, #culturematters. 🌭

In New York, it’s all about the street cart classic. Order it with mustard and sauerkraut, maybe even some onions. For a fancier version, head to places like The Mark Haute Dog Cart @themarkhotelny.

In Chicago, putting ketchup on a hot dog is borderline illegal. Mustard, relish, onions, pickles… yes. Ketchup? Not so much.

In L.A., you’ll find everything from jalapeños to kimchi, because fusion is the flavor of the city.

Meanwhile in the South, slaw dogs rule so put that coleslaw right on top.

Same food, totally different flavors, just like the US. 😉 How do you like your hot dogs? Comment below!

When is Juneteenth❓️ As you may have g When is Juneteenth❓️

As you may have guessed from the name, Juneteenth is celebrated annually in the United States on June 19th. But did you know that people have celebrated the holiday since the 1800s? In 2021, President Biden designated it a federal holiday in light of renewed interest during nationwide protests against racial discrimination.

What are the holiday’s origins❓️

Juneteenth commemorates the historic emancipation of enslaved African Americans on June 19th, 1865. Although Abraham Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, declaring the freedom of all enslaved individuals, its impact was limited. The proclamation applied solely to areas under Confederate control. It exempted rebel territories within Union jurisdiction and border states that still held slaves.

Juneteenth marks the pivotal moment when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas. They assumed control of the state and facilitated the final emancipation of all enslaved people.

While the realization of freedom was neither instantaneous nor immediate, the commemoration of this significant event gave rise to the Juneteenth holiday. Today it serves as a time to acknowledge the challenges of history while also celebrating the resilience and contributions of Black communities.

Mothers shape our lives in so many meaningful ways Mothers shape our lives in so many meaningful ways, and today in many countries, we honor their love, strength, and the positive impact they have on our communities.

Did you know that in Norway, Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in February? Or that Russia honors moms on the last Sunday of November? In fact, we have a whole list of traditions around the world via the link in bio! For example:

🇹🇭 In Thailand, Mother’s Day (“Wan Mae” or วันแม่) is celebrated on August 12th, which is the Thai Queen Sirikit’s birthday. She is considered the “Mother” of the nation. People decorate their homes and businesses with the Queen’s portrait and the Thai flag. Celebrations range from royal processions to offerings made to monks to jasmine flowers (symbols of love and affection) presented by children to their mothers.

🇮🇹 Mother’s Day (Festa della Mamma) in Italy falls on the second Sunday in May. A more recent Italian tradition is purchasing azalea flowers for your mother. Since 1984, the Italian Association for Cancer Research (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro, or AIRC) has set up booths in 3,700 town squares where you can purchase azaleas for a small contribution that helps the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer and cancer affecting reproductive organs.

If today is Mother’s Day in your corner of the world, take a moment to celebrate the amazing mothers and mother figures who make a difference in your life.

As we remind people every year, Cinco de Mayo is n As we remind people every year, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day. (That’s September 16th!)

Instead, it marks the Battle of Puebla (1862)—a moment when Mexico defied the odds and defeated the powerful French army.

Led by General Ignacio Zaragoza, 2,000 Mexican soldiers held off nearly 6,000 French troops in a fight that became a symbol of resilience and national pride. While it wasn’t the end of the war, it showed the world that Mexico would not go down without a fight.

So why is it such a big deal in the U.S.? Mexican-American communities embraced the holiday in the 1960s as a celebration of heritage, culture, and strength—a spirit that lives on today.

Last year, there were more than 120 official Cinco de Mayo celebrations in the US and Americans consumed upwards of 81 million pounds of avocados (a key ingredient in guacamole) during the holiday!

In business and professional settings, Poland stan In business and professional settings, Poland stands out for its frank communication, and has historically emphasized hierarchy and formal business practices, shaped by its conservative and collectivist traditions.

However, younger generations—particularly those with international exposure—are increasingly embracing flatter organizational structures and more egalitarian approaches.

Whether you’re working with Polish colleagues or visiting the country for leisure, understanding these cultural nuances can lead to more meaningful interactions. And while you may find people who speak English, learning some key phrases like “dziękuję” (“thank you”), and formal greetings like “dzień dobry” (“good morning”) can go a long way.
