It's a tangible sign of growing up, and as usual, #culturematters when it comes to how the milestone is marked. ⁠ ⁠ For example, in the Yellowknives Dene First Nation tribe of Canada, children give their lost teeth to their mother or grandmother, who places the tooth in a tree while the family dances around it. This dance encourages the new tooth to grow as straight as the tree trunk! ⁠ ⁠ Meanwhile, in Mongolia, baby teeth may be wrapped in meat and fed to the family pet in the hopes that the new teeth will be as strong as those of the pet!
